We can perform basic shaft alignment tasks right through to complex gear train alignments where multiple machines are to be aligned relative to each other. We can also execute problematic alignments with our specially adapted mountable brackets which allow us to monitor the thermal growth of machines from cold to hot, all while still having machine guards in place, which means no safety risks are imposed to personnel or equipment.

With our portable units from Commtest/GE we’re able to assist clients during commissioning for monitoring and baseline checks during those critical phases, or be brought in to assist the maintenance department with ongoing plant condition monitoring.

Thermal Imaging is a non-invasive, cost effective and very fast method of checking for the onset of failures in electrical, mechanical, process and building areas.

Being a Ball Mill maintenance services company part of our role is to inspect the Gears. Pinion and Girth Gears may appear to be robust pieces of the machine however without careful monitoring of mesh alignment and lubrication systems, these expensive items quickly degrade and can ultimately fail in spectacular fashion.
Over the years we’ve seen Gears suffer appalling treatment, we’re then expected to remedy the severely worn Gearing to ensure it remains in service until a replacement set of Gears can be manufactured, which can be in excess of six (6) month depending on the size of your Girth Gear and where it needs to be manufactured.
Much like our Thermal Imaging, we wanted to be able to provide our clients (as well as ourselves) with instant and early warning information.
We incorporate Magnetic Particle Inspection to help with crack detection of gearing systems. With MPI testing we’re able to clearly identify and pinpoint cracks in gear and pinion teeth alike. Once recognized, our technicians can immediately commence excavation of the cracks in order to mitigate propagation.
In order to give our clients access to the best and latest technology, we have invested heavily in portable Eddy Current Array equipment. Our system is at the forefront of surface ECA inspection methods which greatly enhances our ability to isolate regions of interest. Utilizing our ECA equipment gives significantly reduce downtime of plant, as gear teeth are able to be checked with a high degree of resolution, greater chance of detection and considerably faster inspection times over Magnetic Particle Inspection methods.
Results are delivered in quality 3D colour images (C-Scan) for easy interpretation of crack depth, length and direction, thus allowing fast decision making to take place if problems exist.
Our ECA services are confined to maintenance alone. Increasingly, insurance companies are pressuring Mining companies to undertake more critical and technical inspections of their equipment so as to reduce the risks. We’re able to inspect insurance spares before they leave the factory thus giving a client piece of mind their newly manufactured component maintains a high integrity when its put into service.
